IFA Berlin by the numbers

Every figure links to where it came from. Attendance for an event that has not happened is a projection, and each row says so rather than presenting it as a count.

What is IFA Berlin?

IFA is Berlin's large consumer-electronics and home-appliances fair. The 2026 edition runs 4 to 8 September at Messe Berlin, next to the Funkturm. It is a product-launch hall, not a founder conference. Brands use it to show hardware that will be in shops the following season. VisitBerlin and the official site both put the dates at those five days.

Who goes to IFA Berlin?

Retail buyers, press, and a large public crowd after the trade window. The official site sells separate private-visitor and trade-visitor tickets because the mornings are not the same show as the afternoons. If you came to walk the halls as a consumer, Friday morning is the wrong slot. If you came to buy for a chain, Saturday is the wrong slot.

IFA Berlin side events

Search IFA Berlin side event and you will mostly find exhibitor breakfasts, press previews and brand suites around Messe Berlin and nearby hotels, not a Luma-style city takeover. IFA's own programme now lists on-site stages and a Retail Innovation Zone that opens at 08:00. Unofficial nights sit in Charlottenburg and Mitte and are announced by individual brands, not by a single official side-event calendar. There is no central IFA afterparty list comparable to TOKEN2049 Week. Treat brand invitations as the list. Aspire does not run those nights.

IFA Berlin tickets and costs

Book online rather than at the door: an adult private-visitor ticket is 21.50 euros in advance against 28 on site, reduced is 14 against 16, and a family ticket is 43 against 56. Children of 15 and under go free. Messe Berlin is in Charlottenburg and is built around S-Bahn and U-Bahn, not taxis. The official site says getting there by public transport is the intended path. Tickets are on ifa-berlin.com. 4 September is trade-first until noon. Hotels near Kaiserdamm go early. Stay on the ring and ride in.

  • Private visitor, adult, booked onlineEUR 21.50

EUR 28 if bought at the door, so booking ahead saves about a quarter. Does not admit you before noon on the trade-only Friday morning. IFA Berlin

  • Private visitor, reducedEUR 14

Students, concessions and disability rates, booked online. EUR 16 on site. Children of 15 and under go free. IFA Berlin

  • Family ticket, booked onlineEUR 43

EUR 56 at the door. IFA Berlin

  • Trade visitorabout EUR 55 for one day

Two days around EUR 80 to EUR 99 and the full five days around EUR 120 to EUR 138, with early-bird windows that close before the show. Adds the lounges and business areas and the Friday trade morning. A Platinum Pass sits near EUR 990. IFA trade tickets

Getting to Messe Berlin

Messe Berlin is in Charlottenburg, next to the Funkturm. S-Bahn to Messe Sued or Messe Nord/ICC, or U2 to Kaiserdamm and walk. The official site treats public transport as the intended route rather than a fallback, and during the show it is comfortably faster than driving to a car park that is already full.

Where to stay for IFA Berlin

Charlottenburg around Kaiserdamm and Wilmersdorf puts you a short ride from the halls and fills first. Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg are better for evenings and are fifteen to twenty-five minutes out on the U-Bahn. Berlin absorbs a show this size better than Cologne or Barcelona, so the late-booking penalty is real but not brutal.

What to know before booking IFA Berlin

IFA looks like CES with more white goods and fewer keynotes. Do not plan it as a startup conference. Hall maps on the official site were marked subject to change as of March 2026. Confirm the hall for any meeting the week you travel.

IFA Berlin: common questions

Is IFA Berlin open to the public?

Yes. IFA sells private-visitor and trade-visitor tickets as separate products, and both get through the door on most days. The exception is the opening morning: Friday 4 September is trade-only until noon, which is the detail most first-time visitors get wrong.

IFA Berlin

What time does IFA open on the first day?

Halls open at 09:30 on Friday 4 September for trade visitors, and the show stays trade-only until 12:00. A private-visitor ticket does not get you in before noon on the Friday. From Saturday the timings are the same for everyone.

IFA B2B tickets

Do I need a trade ticket or a private visitor ticket?

A private visitor ticket is EUR 21.50 booked online, EUR 28 at the door, with reduced rates at EUR 14 and children of 15 and under free. Trade passes start around EUR 55 for one day and run to roughly EUR 120 to EUR 138 for all five, and only trade opens the Friday morning window.

IFA Berlin

How big is IFA?

The official 2026 site puts around 1,900 brands on the floor. The US International Trade Administration has cited roughly 220,000 visitors from 140 countries for a recent edition. That visitor figure describes a past year rather than projecting 2026, which is how it should be read.

trade.gov

How is IFA different from CES?

IFA is European, opens to the public, and leans heavily into home appliances and consumer hardware that will be in shops the following season. CES is trade-only, American, and sets the agenda for the year rather than the season. IFA is a buying show; CES is an announcement show.

Is IFA useful for startups?

Rarely, and it is a common mistake. IFA is a product-launch hall for brands selling into European retail, not a founder-and-investor conference. If you want investors, Slush or Web Summit is the right autumn week. If you want retail buyers, this is the one.

How do I get to Messe Berlin?

S-Bahn to Messe Sued or Messe Nord/ICC, or U2 to Kaiserdamm and a short walk. The site is in Charlottenburg beside the Funkturm, on the opposite side of the city from Mitte. The official site treats public transport as the intended route, and during the show it beats driving.
